2005 Oliver Fisher (photo courtesy EGU/Tom Ward)Oliver Fisher of England becomes the youngest ever player from either side in the Walker Cup, being 16 years and 11 months exactly on the day of his first appearance. Remarkably, he came away from the match at the Chicago Golf Club with 3½ points, winning both his foursomes with Matthew Richardson as partner, winning his first singles and halving the second. Despite his fine efforts, GB&I lost the match 12½-11½.

I mean that touching my own concerns, for going further, when I shall not so often hear from the king. And all his subjects be very glad, I thank God, to be busy with the golf, for they take it for pastime; my heart is very good to it, and I am horribly busy making standards, banners, and bagets."
