1962 Homero Blancas, at the time an amateur and member of the University of Houston golf team, shoots 55 in a college tournament at the Premier Golf Course, Longview, Texas. He had 13 birdies, one eagle and took only 20 putts at the par 70 layout, a nine hole course with two sets of tees which measured just 5,002 yards, and is no longer in existence. His round was briefly in the Guinness Book of Records, but was removed when they added a requirement that the course must measure at least 6,500 yards. It nevertheless remained the lowest known score for 18 holes until May 12, 2012, when Rhein Gibson also shot 55, but on a full 18-hole, 6,698 yard course.
