1953 Lew Worsham - winner of the 1947 US Open, defeating Sam Snead in an 18 hole playoff - holes a wedge from 135 yards on the 410 yard final hole for an eagle two, giving him a one-shot victory over Chandler Harper in the Tam O'Shanter World Championship of Golf, the first tournament to be televised nationally in the US. The tournament also boasted the first ever $100,000 purse, of which Worsham claimed $25,000, the biggest prize in golf at the time.
