||Jay Dean Haas is born in St Louis, Missouri, one of a family which can boast many fine golfers. He is a nephew of 1968 Masters Champion Bob Goalby, and has a brother, brother-in-law and two sons who have all played at some point on the PGA Tour, where son Bill won the 2011 Tour Championship, and with it the FedEx Cup.
Jay claimed nine titles on the PGA Tour between 1978 and 1993, playing in three US Ryder Cup teams, and since joining the Champions Tour in 2004 has notched up 16 titles through 2012, including three senior majors, whilst also playing occasionally on the main tour. He holds the all-time PGA Tour record for most cuts made in a career with 592.
In 2005 he received the Payne Stewart Award for upholding the finst traditions of the game, and in 2006 the USGA's Bob Jones Award for distinguished sportsmanship in golf.
