2009 Amateur Danny Lee of New Zealand becomes the youngest ever winner on the European Tour, claiming the Johnnie Walker Classic at the age of 18 years and 213 days (6 months and 28 days) over The Vines Resort Course in Perth, Australia. His win bettered the record set by Dale Hayes of South Africa who was 77 days older when he won the 1971 Spanish Open. Lee earned no money for his victory, being still an amateur, only the second to win on the European Tour after Pablo Martin in 2007.
His record has since been bettered by Matteo Manassero, who won the 2010 Castelló Masters Costa Azahar aged 17 years and 188 days.
