1968 Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th President of the United States, holes-in-one at the age of 77 on the 104-yard 13th hole at Seven Lakes Country Club in Palm Springs, California. Although 'Ike' is reputed to have played golf more than 800 times while in office, this hole in one, his first and only time, came over eight years after he left the White House.
1971 Alan Shepard plays golf on the MoonAlan Shepard plays golf on the Moon during the Apollo 14 mission. Using a six-iron head attached to a lunar soil sampling tool, he hits two golf balls one-handed (his stiff space-suit making a normal swing impossible), duffing the first, but claiming that his second shot flew "miles and miles and miles" in the low lunar gravity.
