1953 Ben Hogan Ben Hogan wins the Open Championship at Carnoustie, having already won the Masters and the US Open earlier in the year. It was the last of his nine major championship victories, and he was unable to compete in the PGA Championship and perhaps achieve the professional Grand Slam, as the dates clashed with The Open. Hogan played only six tournaments that year and won five of them, including the three majors.
