2005 Jack Nicklaus 5 noteJack Nicklaus is honoured by the Royal Bank of Scotland on a commemorative issue of two million £5 notes, timed to coincide with the first day of his final appearance in the Open Championship. Nicklaus won The Open three times (at Muirfield in 1966, St Andrews in 1970 and St Andrews again in 1978), as well as finishing runner-up seven times. He is the only golfer ever to have appeared on a national currency. The banknote is legal tender, although most are probably held by collectors.
