2009 Matteo Manassero becomes the youngest ever (British) Amateur Champion at the age of 16 years, 2 months and 2 days, defeating Sam Hutsby 4&3 in the final at Formby. He is also the first Italian to win the Championship. As Amateur Champion, he is invited to the 2010 Masters and became the youngest ever to make the cut; after turning pro became the youngest winner on the European Tour.
2003 Chris Gane takes 17 on the 533 yard 18th at Gleneagles in the second round of the Diageo Championship, the second highest ever score for a single hole on the European Tour. His approach shot missed the green and found thick rough, needing eight shots and two penalty shots to get out. Nine over par coming to the hole, the two-time Challenge Tour winner walked off 21 over.
