||Tiger Woods is defeated for the first and, so far (March 2014), only time in his PGA Tour career in a playoff for an official event when Billy Mayfair birdied the first extra hole at the Nissan Open, played unusually at the Valencia Country Club. Riviera Country Club, the usual venue for the Nissan (now called the Northern Trust Open), was hosting the US Senior Open that year, and the members declined to see their course closed for play twice in the same season. After a storming 65 on the Saturday to close to within one shot of Mayfair and two of leader Tommy Armour III, Woods birdied three of the four closing holes on Sunday to take the lead for the first time. However Mayfair also birdied the 18th from a deep bunker to force a playoff, where Woods hit his trademark blocked drive at par 5 18th to end up with a par, while Mayfair almost holed his third from 85 yards and sank an 8-footer for the win.
NB: Woods also lost playoffs for the 2010 and 2013 Chevron World Challenges to Graeme McDowell and Zach Johnson, but these were not official PGA Tour events.
