'Dufnering' is born when this photograph by Christine Lee of KXAS-TV, a video journalist for the NBC affiliate in Dallas who was covering Jason Dufner's appearance at the J. Erik Jonsson Community School in Dallas, appeared on Twitter.
Dufner was appearing on behalf of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, who run the Byron Nelson Championship which Dufner won in 2012, and which gives some of its charitable proceeds to the school for disadvantaged children. In his own words he "checked out" for 30 seconds, and the photo was given to NBC sports anchor David Watkins who tweeted it.
Within hours friend and fellow PGA pro Keegan Bradley joined forces with Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker and posted his own version of the picture, shortly followed by Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy, Bubba Watson, Michelle Wie and a host of others, golfers and non-golfers, as the picture went viral. Dufner's name became a verb, and the rest is history.
Our objective in this section is to find at least one significant, or simply amusing, event in the history of the golfing world for every day of the year.
