2012 Rory McIlroy wins the Honda Classic by two shots from Tiger Woods and Tom Gillis in a thrilling final round, and becomes World No. 1 for the first time. McIlroy held his nerve as Woods charged to a career-best final round of 62, including a birdie-eagle finish, with a superb short-game display to card a 69. McIlroy reaches the No. 1 spot with his 5th career victory, and becomes the second youngest player to top the Ranking at 22 years and 312 days; Tiger Woods was 21 years and 167 days old when he first became world number one on June 15, 1997.
