1929 Walter Hagen successfully defends the Open Championship at Muirfield by six shots, his fourth and final Open victory, having previously won in 1922, 1924 and 1928. It is also the last of his 11 major championships.
In the finest tradition of 'Keep a 6 off your card', Hagen managed to play his four rounds of 75-67-75-75 without ever taking more than 5 on any hole. This included an awkward situation on the 9th in the final round, where his ball lay up against a stone wall, obliging him to play left-handed.
