1883 Willie FernieWillie Fernie of Dumfries takes 10 at the 2nd hole of his final round in the Open Championship at Musselburgh, played over four rounds of nine holes in a single day. With something of a cushion following low opening rounds of 38 and 37, he managed to tie with Bob Ferguson, winner of the three previous Opens, on 158 and the two of them played off for the title over 36 holes the next day. Fernie won the playoff with another score of 158 to Ferguson's 159, making him the only Open Champion with a double-figure score on his card.
