2011 Kevin Na wins the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open by 2 shots from Nick Watney. Nothing exceptional there, except that his win included a 'non-air-shot' (non-whiff), when he addressed the ball, swung and passed right over the top. Na explained that it was not a whiff, but an intentional change of direction during the swing because something felt wrong, just as his extremely slow pre-shot routine was due to trouble "pulling the trigger" as he worked on a new swing.

Under the USGA Decision on the Rules 14/1.5 Na was not assesed a shot: "The player is considered to have checked his downswing voluntarily by altering the path of his downswing and missing the ball even though the swing carried the clubhead beyond the ball."
Some six months earlier, Na had taken 16 on a par 4 during the Valero Texas Open, one of which was a genuine air-shot.
