1965 Robert Mitera makes the longest known straight hole-in-one of 447 yards, on the 10th hole at Miracle Hill Golf and Tennis Center in Omaha, Nebraska. (The 'straight' is important, because longer holes-in-one 'on the card' have been recorded, but those holes are doglegs, and the actual tee to hole distance across the dogleg is shorter than Mitera's ace.) Mitera, 21 at the time and not a powerful man at 5ft 6in tall, did not see the ball drop as the hole plays sharply downhill - and strongly downwind that day - but his ace was witnessed by the group ahead.
