1974 Douglas Porteous holes in one for the fourth time in three consecutive rounds. He made two on September 26th at the 225 yard 3rd and the 195 yard 6th of Ruchill Golf Club, Glasgow, the third in his next round on September 28th at Ruchill's 164 yard 5th, and the fourth playing his next round at Clydebank and District Golf Club's 150 yard 6th.
Amazingly, Mr Porteous again holed in one twice in the same round in 1975 at Clober Golf Club, Glasgow, both of them albatrosses, firstly at Clober's 350 yard par 4 10th, then at the 281 yard par 4 15th.
1876 Bob Martin wins the Open Championship at St Andrews with a 36 hole score of 176, which is equalled by Davie Strath. Strath, however, refuses to take part in a playoff to decide the winner, so the Claret Jug is awarded to Martin.
