1913 Jerome D. 'Jerry' Travers wins the 19th US Amateur Championship at the Chicago Golf Club. It is his fourth US Amateur, following wins in 1907, '08 and '12, and he remains to this day the only golfer to win the title four times, just one behind the great Bobby Jones.
In 1915 he went on to win the US Open at Baltusrol (pictured right) as an amateur, and is today one of only five players to have achieved this feat. He is also one of only 11 players, including Francis Oumiet, Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods, to have done the US Amateur/US Open double.
