Matteo Manassero to sport Polo Ralph Lauren RLX
May 5, 2010

Matteo Manassero has signed a multi-year contract with Polo Ralph Lauren to represent its RLX Golf collection.

As part of the partnership, Manassero will serve as a brand ambassador for Polo Ralph Lauren worldwide, take part in advertising and marketing efforts for the brand and will exclusively wear clothing from the RLX Golf collection.

“Matteo is quickly making a footprint in the game of golf on a global level,” said David Lauren, Senior Vice President of Advertising, Marketing and Corporate Communications for Ralph Lauren. “He is an incredibly talented golfer and his youthfulness and great style resonate with the RLX brand.”

Only 17 years of age and a native of Verona, Italy, Manassero is setting records at every turn. Recently ranked the world's leading amateur, he became the youngest player to ever compete in and make the cut at The Masters, where this past April he capped his outstanding amateur career with a historic performance. He had qualified for the 2010 Masters by virtue of his victory at the 2009 Amateur Championship, where he became the youngest ever winner, and that victory him a place in the 2009 Open Championship at Turnberry. Competing at only 16 years old and alongside another Ralph Lauren sponsored professional, veteran and five times Open Champion Tom Watson for two rounds, he finished tied for 13th.

“I am proud to have been chosen to represent RLX Golf,” said Manassero. “I have always loved the brand and feel that the apparel will lend me the comfort and technical edge that I need to perform my best on the course.”

The ultimate reflection of the modern, dedicated athlete, RLX Golf was introduced four years ago, crafted from over a decade of experience with Ralph Lauren’s RLX brand in ski. RLX's innovative golf wear merges the finest fabrics and finishes with signature design elements to create the cutting-edge performance gear demanded by the world’s best. Manassero joins an elite group of professional golfers sponsored by Ralph Lauren, including Tom Watson, Davis Love III, Luke Donald, Webb Simpson, Jonathan Byrd, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and Morgan Pressel.
