Bernd Wiesberber named FootJoy European Apparel Ambassador

January 30, 2013

Bernd Wiesberger has been appointed the new FootJoy European Ambassador for its popular Apparel Collection. The 27 year-old Austrian sensation has already started wearing garments from the brand’s new 2013 Spring/Summer Performance Apparel collection and will continue to do so in all tournaments throughout the 2013 European Tour season.

Wiesberger has enjoyed a rapid rise to success since he first secured his European Tour card in 2009 and last year established himself as a real force in the world of professional golf with two tournament victories. In April he claimed his maiden European Tour title at the Ballantine's Championship, twice setting the course record and winning the championship by an impressive five stroke margin. The win moved him into the Top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings and was to spur him on to even greater climbs later in the year. In front of his home fans at the Lyoness Open in July, the Vienna native showed his class under the most intense pressure, carding a spectacular final-round of 65 to claim an emotional three-shot victory. In what was an incredibly consistent season, including a number of other top ten’s, Wiesberger banked over €1millon and finished a highly-credible 22nd on the 2012 Race to Dubai Rankings.

Wiesberger, has already worn the new apparel at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and was delightred with the array of colour and design options as well as the high-performance fabrics that allow him to play his best in all playing conditions, “It’s important that you have high performance golf apparel on to prepare for whatever weather conditions may hit you, thus allowing you to perform your best. FootJoy apparel offers the best of fashion and performance excellence and I am really excited to represent such an iconic brand on tour.”

As well as Wiesberger, a number of Tour players including Ryder Cup stalwart Steve Stricker, two-time PGA Tour winner Jason Dufner and former Open Champion Ben Curtis will also be sporting the new SS13 FJ apparel collection at the game’s highest level.
