Catriona Matthew bags first tour win for The Extra 20 Yards®
August 22, 2011

Nine months since taking delivery of The Extra 20 Yards, Catriona Matthew sees her hard work begin to pay off

Edinburgh, Scotland. Golf strength and fitness company The Extra 20 Yards would like to congratulate Catriona Matthew for her victory at the Ladies Scottish Open this weekend – the first win on Tour for a user of The Extra 20 Yards.

Following a course record 65 on Friday, Matthew headed into the final round with a four shot lead. The rest of the field proved no match for the former major champion though, with her score of 66 delivering the impressive winning margin of 10 shots. Throughout the tournament, Matthew’s driving was particularly strong. She ranked 5th in both driving distance and accuracy with respective figures of 258.3 yards and 83.33% of fairways hit. These statistics bear out Matthew’s feelings about her swing when she had The Extra 20 Yards fitted in her home last October.

Catriona Matthew using The Extra 20 YardsDesigned to train the specific muscles used in the golf swing, The Extra 20 Yards targets an increase in club head speed. With her coach suggesting that she would only need 5 minutes, 4 times a week to see an improvement, Matthew felt that The Extra 20 Yards would be an ideal piece of training equipment to meet her needs. Upon delivery of her machine she commented, “I am sure it will help me develop a stronger golf swing, hit the ball further and protect me against long term injuries”.

Since Matthew received her machine the statistics continue to back up her assertion. From the available LET statistics, Matthew had a driving average of 250 yards for the 2010 season, ranking 45th in the LET. For the 2011 season those figures have gone up to a 258.3 yard average and a ranking of 22nd .

Last season Matthew identified a problem that many women golfers have when she said, “I see lots of women golfers who have really good technique and swing mechanics, however many of them lack strength through the golf swing. The Extra 20 Yards will help all Lady golfers develop that strength and help them to hit the ball further”

Since that point, she has invested in the technology that The Extra 20 Yards offers and the statistics suggest that she is reaping the reward.

Catriona Matthew has had a great 2011 season so far. With this convincing win at the Scottish Open and her driving distances going up, the guys at The Extra 20 Yards feel that they have contributed a little towards that. As with all golfers, a few extra yards can help your game no end. Be it male or female, club player or professional, a bit of work can pay dividends. With The Extra 20 Yards you can do that from the comfort of your own home and with not as much work as you’d think.
