Have a ball fitting with Bridgestone Golf

October 1, 2014

Chris Murphy

If you thought it was only important to have your clubs fitted then think again, there are many benefits you can get from having a ball fitting too, and I advise anyone who is serious about their golf to go and have one.

Bridgestone have made golf ball fitting easy and accessible. Very much like a club fitting you can go along to a driving range where Bridgestone are having a day and see them. It only takes about 15 minutes and I'm sure you will enjoy the experience.

You will come away with some invaluable information about your golf game and most probably a new ball that will benefit you greatly no matter what level you play at.

The team at Bridgestone understand golfers and golfing ability varies greatly, from swing speed, to spin rate, to simply how hard or softly you hit the ball. There are therefore 9 different balls in their range so they can make sure there is always a ball to help you improve.

I'm a five handicapper and have always had problems with distance when hitting into the wind. My belief was I would only cure this with hours and hours spent on the range perfecting my swing. Well this would obviously help, but what I found out while with the guys at Bridgestone is a simple change of ball could help as well.

Pic 1 above shows my results from the swing monitor, in my case the important numbers to focus on were the spin rates. You can see the spin rate in the data marked A from my old ball, is a great deal higher on average then the spin rates from switching to the Bridgestone B330-RXS ball.

The new Tour B330-RXS ball features Hydro Core Technology, specifically designed to reduce spin for longer distance. It is also designed to swing speeds under 105 mph, and you can see from the data mine is.

A higher spin rate on my drive would mean into the wind I would lose a great deal of distance. By simply switching ball has meant I have added distance off the tee into the wind. I will take any advantage I can when I head out onto the golf course and this has come from simply getting a ball fitting.

Pics 2 and 3 also show another benefit from switching ball, my accuracy instantly improved. You can see this is the red ( old ball ) vs purple ( Bridgestone B330-RXS ). The Right ball equals the right results.

I believe everyone should have a ball fitting with Bridgestone, it is a fantastic service which produces great results and it costs nothing, why would you not do it?
