FootJoy has continued its dominant form claiming its first double win weekend of 2014, as FJ ambassadors, Louis Oosthuizen and Jimmy Walker, triumphed at the Volvo Golf Champions in Durban and the Sony Open in Hawaii respectively. For Oosthuizen, it was yet again another perfect start to the year as the South African saw off stiff competition to retain the Volvo Golf Champions title, choosing to compete in the unrivalled performance, comfort and fit of his DryJoys Tour golf shoes and his SciFlex golf glove. While in America, Jimmy Walker claimed his second win of the 2014 PGA Tour season in Hawaii at The Sony Open wearing FJ ICON golf shoes and the FJ flagship StaSof glove. The leaderboards of both side of the Atlantic were awash with players choosing to compete in the market-leaders’ all-encompassing shoe and glove collections.

In Durban, and playing on home soil, Oosthuizen was the epitome of calm as he produced a stunning display of golf on the final day at Durban Country Club. Following a flawless front nine, the South African was equally as dominant on the back-nine, producing two birdies in the last two holes to successfully defend the title he won 12 months ago. Taking home the winners cheque of €507,654, the 31 year-old moves up to second place in the Race to Dubai with season earnings of €579,235 and back in to the top 30 of the Official World Golf Ranking. The leaderboard in Durban was awash with fellow FJ loyalists including, Joost Luiten (FJ Sport) Victor Duibuisson (FJ Contour Casual & StaSof) Padraig Harrington (M:PROJECT & Pure Touch) Thomas Aiken (FJ ICON) and Julien Quesne (FJ ICON)

While on the PGA Tour, Walker, who turns 35 in a few days’ time, organised himself the perfect birthday present with a stunning display of golf over the famed Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. Featuring seven birdies, five of which came on the back-nine, the American finished with a faultless round of 63 to romp home to his second career PGA Tour victory and his second of six starts on the 2013/14 season. The Texan resident claims the winner’s cheque of $1,080,000 and now leads the FedEx Cup standings with 1,233 points, following his win at the beginning of the season at the Frys.com Open. Walker was also joined at the top of the leaderboard in Hawaii by several fellow FJ ambassadors including, Harris English (DryJoys Tour) Mark Leishman (FJ prototype shoes & StaSof) Jeff Overton (FJ Sport & SciFlex) Charles Howell III (DryJoys Tour & StaSof) and yet another Top 10 finish for 2013 Masters Champion, Adam Scott (Prototype FJ golf shoes & StaSof).

“It is fantastic to see our ambassadors leading at such an early point in the season, both Louis and Jimmy produced stunning displays of golf on the final day to race through the field and claim all-important victories. Louis win also completes the champions of champions double following Zach Johnson’s win last week in Hyundai Tournament of Champions Hawaii.” commented Russell Lawes, FootJoy Marketing Manager, “To have completed the first double-win weekend so early in to the calendar year is also extremely gratifying and testament to the trust our ambassadors place in the unrivalled performance and fit of our market leading shoes and gloves to compete at the very top of the leaderboard.”

The fields this week at both Durban Country Club and Waialae CC were once again crammed with players choosing the unrivalled performance and comfort of FJ’s extensive product range. At the Volvo Golf Champions, 58% of the field competed in FJ golf shoes and 36% put their hands in the superior fit and grip of FJ golf gloves, whilst in America, 58% excelled in the superior comfort, fit and performance of FJ golf shoes and 42% chose to utilise the exceptional grip and fit of FJ golf gloves.
