UK SkyCaddie buyers get bridgestone bonus

March 27, 2014

Two of golf’s leading brands are teaming up to celebrate the launch of the most advanced GPS device yet seen in the sport.

SkyGolf, maker of SkyCaddie the #1 rated and most trusted1 Rangefinder in Golf, today announced that it will give a dozen Bridgestone Golf balls to all UK buyers of the new SkyCaddie Touch GPS handset in a launch promotion.

A box of twelve Bridgestone Golf Tour B330-RX golf balls worth £47.99 will be attached to each SkyCaddie Touch in the UK in special wrap packaging, for a limited period after the Touch arrives in the UK this April.

In addition SkyCaddie customers in the UK who buy a Double Eagle annual membership for their SkyCaddie will also receive a dozen Bridgestone Golf e6 golf balls during the promotional period.

“The opportunity to partner with SkyCaddie is fitting as we both deliver premium, high performance products for the end user” said Steve Kettlewell, Managing Director of Bridgestone Golf UK. “Even more important is that both SkyCaddie and Bridgestone take into account the needs of golfers when developing products. For Bridgestone Golf it is about finding the best ball for individual golfers, and for SkyCaddie it is about providing the most accurate course information with no compromises or shortcuts when it comes to distance.

“At the end of the day, we both want golfers to play better today than they did yesterday” he said.

“SkyGolf enjoys one of the largest and fastest-growing online communities of golf enthusiasts and discerning consumers in the game – the sort of golfers who are attracted to premium brands such as Bridgestone Golf” said Jacqui Surman, Senior Vice President International Sales & Marketing, SkyGolf.

“This joint promotion creates the perfect WIN-WIN-WIN situation – for SkyCaddie, for Bridgestone Golf, and most importantly for SkyCaddie Double Eagle members and buyers of the new Touch” she said.

“With this promotion we can offer amazing value to our customers, while Bridgestone Golf gets UK golf’s key influencers using their brand. Plus, our own members get to use a great golf ball while offsetting the cost of the only membership in golf which provides the most accurate, up-to-date and reliable course information.”

SkyCaddie’s features-packed Touch features a glove-friendly, easy-to-use, easy-to-read touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity which enables golfers to download the latest course updates ‘OnDemand’ when coupled with the free smartphone app.

It is preloaded with 35,000 “best-in-class” error-corrected, ground-verified, highly accurate SkyCaddie golf course maps, and features a high-resolution, sunlight-readable colour display which amplifies the superiority of SkyCaddie’s preloaded maps over its competition. Additional course maps in high definition can also be downloaded by Touch users via the Bluetooth link to the App.

The TOUR B330-RX is a premium golf ball specifically designed to deliver tour performance and maximum distance for the majority of golfers who swing below 105mph. It features new Hydro Core Technology, designed to reduce spin off the driver face for greater distance and accuracy. The B330-RX also features Bridgestone Golf’s patented Dual Dimple Technology that helps provide a more consistent ball flight.

The e6 is the softest multilayer golf ball on the market, designed to reduce spin for straighter distance. The new larger Dual Dimple provides reduced drag for higher speeds and increased lift, while the softer Surlyn cover and low compression core make for the softest e6 yet.

SkyCaddie Memberships pay for themselves several times over both on and off the course. Members receive unlimited access to SkyCaddie’s exclusive course information, mapped from the ground with professional, survey-grade equipment. While only SkyCaddie makes this extra effort at a cost of millions of dollars each year, it is considered absolutely necessary to eliminate known errors contained in other map libraries. Also, only SkyCaddie Mappers return to thousands of golf courses every year to update course maps and check for changes.

While this extra effort on the consumers’ behalf is very costly, the cost is spread among the large membership so the confidence and trust of having accurate and reliable distance information is only about the cost of a dozen golf balls per year per member.

And now, in the new partnership with Bridgestone Golf, this small annual investment is returned to SkyCaddie members.

SkyCaddie Memberships also provide many other benefits like the online Club SG community. All scorecards, performance stats, favourite course maps and records of achievement are securely stored within a personal data locker accessible from any computer via the new free SkyGolf Mobile App. Members also save several times their investment through exclusive SkyGolf partner offers such as those offered by Bridgestone Golf and other premium golf brands.

Only SkyCaddie GPS rangefinders powered by the most reliable maps in the game pay dividends both on and off the course.
