GolfBuddy Voice Ready To Be Heard
by John Steinbreder - August 27, 2012

GolfBuddy has been best known for the devices that provide distance readouts for players for holes on more than 35,000 courses worldwide. Now, the GPS rangefinder company is garnering attention for a product that actually speaks the yardages, the GolfBuddy Voice.

Introduced at the 2012 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, the Voice is as small as an iPod Nano (1.7 inches wide) and light enough (only one ounce) to be comfortably clipped to the brim of a hat or visor, or to a belt. And it is designed to verbally provide distances to the front, middle and back of a green with a simple press of a button on the face of the unit, while also offering visual readings that appear along with the hole number and its par.

In addition, the Voice boasts the ability to change readings from yards to meters, which can be an important feature for those peripatetic players who like to take their games on the road, and is available with recordings in eight different languages. The device also tells time via a digital clock and utilizes an eighthour, rechargeable lithium battery as well as the company’s Auto Course & Hole Recognition technology, meaning it always knows the exact hole a golfer is playing.

Says Harry Jung, president of GolfBuddy, which is based in La Palma, Calif., and has product development and course data management centers in South Korea: “This product is accurate, easy to use and completely unobtrusive. It offers golfers a simple solution that acts like a personal caddie every step of the way.”

As with other GolfBuddy products, the Voice has no annual fee, and there are no course download charges after purchase.
