They say: An advanced new game-improvement system for smartphone and tablet devices, and winner of the 'Product Ingenuity by Emerging Companies' category at the International Network of Golf's (ING) Honours Ceremony.

SwingSmart is the must-have, easy-to-use gadget for players eager to improve all parts of their play, providing instant and accurate feedback on critical elements of a golfer's swing. Clipping simply on to a golf club shaft, the unit, which weighs just 19 grams - less than an AA battery - s ends 3D swing data straight to a smartphone or tablet device using bespoke Bluetooth technology. With the SwingSmart attached to the club, the app shows four crucial data elements relating to the swing: tempo, swing speed, and the angle of both face and attack, and works with every club in the bag - including the putter.

I say: What a simple yet extremely effective and innovative way of analysing your own golf swing. Swing Smart is really easy to use and clips neatly onto the shaft of your golf club.

You hit a shot and the feedback to the app on your phone is instant and really very detailed, making it the ideal point of reference if you are working on a particular swing move on the range or the course. I guess for some golfers the information it provides will almost be mind-boggling - tempo, swing speed, face angle, angle of attack - the list goes on. And arguably without the expert advice of a golf coach you might end up self-diagnosing. But I think that used in conjunction with lessons from your club professional it is ingenius and will really help you improve faster and with greater confidence that you are improving.

I particularly like the fact that the SwingSmart can be used for putting as well as long game shots and there's a neat little feature that allows you to record the statistics from your best swings, so you can challenge yourself to improve every time you go to the driving range.
