Play with the pros and help kids in Mombasa
August 24, 2010

Glad's House, a charity which supports struggling children in Mombasa , is to stage a unique pro-am competition at Mannings Heath Golf Club, on Monday, September 6.

Participants will be able to play in teams, alongside golfers from the Challenge and EuroPro tours. These familiar professionals will act as captains for each team and will be there to give quality and advice. Glad's House will also provide entertainment in the evening to complete what should be a truly memorable day.

The distinctive twist to this event is that both professionals and amateurs alike will have the opportunity to test out some of the latest and most innovative golf clubs and equipment currently on the market.

The increasingly popular GoKart electric golf trolley and the SKLZ range of putting aids will be just two of the brands available for use, as well as some of the leading club manufacturers' products at various holes throughout the course.

Glad's House works in partnership with the Mombasa Olympic Youth Organisation (MOYO) to divert Mombasa 's children away from drugs, crime and HIV, a path horribly familiar for many of the city's infants in the past.

The exclusive pro-am event will provide the perfect springboard from which Glad's House can further launch itself in the UK and potentially further afield.

The charity is soon to embark upon an ambitious new project, building a residential centre in the heart of Mombasa to get the children off the street. This will provide vital shelter for many children but will not be possible without support for the charity.

This event will be the first step on the road to providing the necessary safe house.

With two championship-standard courses Mannings Heath will provide the perfect setting for this exceptional event.

There are still a number of team places available for this exciting event. It is the perfect opportunity for golfers to enjoy a round at one of the most prestigious golf courses in England while providing much needed help for some of the world's most desperate children.
