Godalming Golf Club earn top accreditation

July 18, 2014

West Surrey Golf Club have recently secured the Golfmark accreditation which recognises the club's support for junior and beginner friendly golf facilities. The assessment covered three areas - coaching and playing, club environment (including sports equity and ethics) and child protection and duty of care.

Christine Staff, the Junior Organiser commented that working through the process has given the club a better understanding of the junior section and they are now looking forward to welcoming many more juniors to the club.

With a new professional team of Duncan Giblett, Adam Taylor and RossHigham, the club now offers junior coaching at 3 levels - Tri Golf, a fun way to introduce youngsters aged 4 to 6 to golf - Golf Roots Golf Passport, a national structured learning programme for ages 6 to 12 established by the Golf Foundation which brings youngsters up to readiness for club membership - Junior Academy which involves practical coaching and instruction leading towards a player's first handicap.  Coaching camps are also arranged during school holidays.  The club also has an adult academy for those new to golf or returning and wishing to brush up their skills.
