Teeing off in the day’s first group, South Africa’s Williams made seven birdies against a lone bogey to take the clubhouse lead. His 64 was lower than any return from Day One.

However, the six-under par score only stood as the low-round for a little over an hour before Remesy signed for a 63 following his second-consecutive bogey-free trip around Golf Club Bad Ragaz.

The Frenchman has been pleased with the quality of his game through the first two rounds.

“I’ve started to feel very confident the last two weeks,” said Remesy. “I’ve worked very hard and things are turning in the right direction.

“We’ll see what happens tomorrow but I’m very happy with these first two days.”

Williams, who sits in third on the Staysure Tour Order of Merit, would make a significant dent in Paul Broadhurst’s commanding lead of the rankings should he triumph in tomorrow’s final round. Despite the high-stakes, the South African is relaxed going into the third and final day.

“I’ve only dropped one shot in 36 holes so I’m very happy about that,” the 59 year old said. “I’m driving it straight so I’m very confident in my game at the moment. I’ve been playing well for quite some time now and I’m very comfortable when I get on the golf course.

“This afternoon I’m going to go up and have some cheese and some sausages up on top of the mountain there and have a glass of wine.”

The Swiss Seniors Open co-leaders are by no means away free and clear. Welshman Phillip Price sits only one shot back in third place. The three-time European Tour winner — who also has a Staysure Tour victory to his name — took a share of the lead into Day Two and was tied at the top on ten under par after three-straight birdies, however a bogey on the home-hole dropped him to nine under par.

Rounding out the top five are a trio of players, including Day One co-leader Barry Lane who followed up his 65 with a two under par 68, as well Miguel Angel Martin and Jarmo Sandelin, both of whom fired four under par 66s.

Home favourite André Bossert delighted the crowds following him today as his three birdies, including a converted 12-footer at the last, went with 15 pars to put the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz ambassador on three under par for the day and the tournament.

The final round of the Swiss Seniors Open will go tomorrow, with the final grouping of Price, Remesy and Williams set to tee off at 10:50 am local time.
