Round 4 - Bryson DeChambeau wins Memorial Tournament

June 03, 2018

Bryson DeChambeau birdied the second playoff hole to beat South Korea's An Byeong-hun and win the Memorial Tournament.

Kyle Stanley, An and DeChambeau were tied at 15-under par after the two Americans bogeyed the 72nd hole. Stanley played another bogey on the first playoff hole and An's second shot on the second extra hole came to rest against a spectator’s umbrella. His free drop found the green but DeChambeau's birdie made it moot.

"So it has taken me a couple of years to get to this calibre and I was fortunate enough to come out victorious on Jack's course.

"This is most important win of my entire career because it happened here at Jack's course and also it is also kind of validity me being out here on tour, as well."

Joaquin Niemann, the Chilean 19-year-old who was one shot behind DeChambeau overnight carded a final round 73 and tied for sixth place with Justin Rose (79) at 12-under. Niemann was playing in his fifth event since turning pro after the Masters last April and this result secures him special temporary membership status and allows him unlimited starts for the remainder of the season.

Round 3 - Bryson DeChambeau takes Memorial lead

June 02, 2018

Bryson DeChambeau surged to a one-shot lead with four birdies in his last six holes to sign for a bogey-free 66 and move to 14-under 202 in a bid to secure his second PGA Tour victory following last year’s John Deere Classic.

Joaquin Niemann, Patrick Cantlay and Kyle Stanley lie a stroke back on 203. Six other players lie within five shots of DeChambeau including 14-time major champion Tiger Woods.

Woods was briefly tied for the lead but two bogeys in his last three holes set him back.

"I shot 68 today but, again, that's probably the highest score I could have possibly shot today," he said. "I played really, really well. I played beautifully, actually, had total control of what I was doing out there and just didn't finish it off."

Round 2 - Joaquin Niemann and Kyle Stanley tied for Memorial lead

June 01, 2018

Joaquin Niemann closed his round with two birdies over his last three holes to take a share of the lead with Kyle Stanley at 11-under.

''It feels really nice to be on top of the leaderboard,'' he said. ''It does feel really nice for tomorrow.''

Tiger Woods was hampered by a 90 minute weather delay and missed four putts under 7 feet. He is currently tied with ten other players in 24th place at 5-under.

''It could have been easily a nice little 62 or 63,'' Woods said. ''I turned it into a 67.''

Stanley spent much of the day at the top of the leaderboard and was pulling away when a poor tee shot at the sixth led to a bogey. He saved a par at the last to reach 11-under 133.

Round 1 - Matsuyama, Niemann & Ancer tied for Memorial lead

May 31, 2018

An eagle at the 17th helped Hideki Matsuyama into a share of the lead at 7-under par 65 along with Abraham Ancer and Joaquin Niemann at the Memorial on Thursday.

Matsuyama, who won the event in 2014, came back from back-to-back bogeys at the 10th and 11th with four straight birdies starting at the 13th.

Tiger Woods, a five-time winner at the Memorial, struggled but came back from four-over through seven holes to post an even par 72. He insisted the stiff back that bothered him was nothing to worry about.

"I just have days like that," he said. "It's aging and it's surgeries. It is what it is. Just got to make the adjustments. I'm able to make them now."

"At the beginning of the year, I wasn't able to make them, because I didn't really know what to do yet. But now you see me making these adjustments on the fly."
