Koreaโ€™s Mi Jung Hur followed up a first round 66 (-5) with a record-breaking 62 (-9) to take a two shot lead from Thailandโ€™s Moriya Jutanuagrn on a rain affected day at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open.

In a tale of two seasons for the second day running, the afternoon starters once again benefitted from the best weather of the day, enjoying sunshine and little wind following a wet morning which included a couple of rain delays, leading to unplayable course conditions.

Dame Laura Davies proved that sheโ€™s still a force to be reckoned with by firing a 3-under-par 68 in what she described as a โ€˜second-best round of her careerโ€™ in brutal wind and rain to make her first cut in 11 LPGA starts this year.

The highlight of the 55-year-oldโ€™s day came at the par 3 5th where she holed a wedge from 152 yards for her 12th hole-in-one of her career. Swedenโ€™s Cajsa Persson followed her in five hours later, holing a 9-iron on the same hole.

โ€œThe reason Iโ€™m here is because I still think Iโ€™m decent and I think today proves I can play. But last week, finishing stone last in a field of 144, thatโ€™s the first time thatโ€™s ever happened. So you doubt yourself a bit, but I know the good shots are there. Just got to keep the bad ones off the card. Today was a good day.โ€

Two-time LPGA Tour winner Mi Jung Hur, who was paired with Scotlandโ€™s crowd favourite Carly Booth yesterday, wasted no time from the start, recording two birdies and an eagle in her opening three holes. Another seven birdies and two bogeys saw her sign for a โ€˜best of the weekโ€™ round of 62 (-9).

โ€œI got a really lucky draw for this week but sometimes I need luck for those things. Iโ€™m really excited about tomorrow and I just want to keep focused on my game and trying to talk a lot of things through with my caddie as it helps a lotโ€.

Booth, who is playing on a sponsor invitation, tops the Scottish contingent in T14 at 5-under-par after a second round 67 (-4).

โ€œThe course was in great condition, considering how much rain weโ€™ve had. I played in a great threesome in the last two days, so I am looking forward to the weekend.โ€

Round one overnight leader Anne Van Dam had a quiet second day compared to Thursday but managed to stay in the hunt with a round of 69 (-2) to sit in T3 alongside 2019 U.S Womenโ€™s Open winner and LPGA rookie, Jeongeun Lee6 at 10-under-par.

Bogey-free for 36 holes, Thailandโ€™s Moriya Jutanugarn is currently set to feature in the final group on โ€˜moving dayโ€™ in solo second at 12-under-par following rounds of 64 (-7) and 66 (-5).

With 12 groups still to complete their second round, players battled the elements until darkness last night, with the remaining competitors coming back this morning at 7.30am to finish off.

Round three tee times will be drawn at the conclusion of play on Saturday morning, with the first third round group currently scheduled to tee off from approximately 9:40am.

There are currently 72 players at even par or better.

Donโ€™t forgetโ€ฆ Off the course, and new for 2019 is Ladies Day, which will take place tomorrow (Saturday 10th August). No golfing experience is required and welcome drinks will be served to all attendees on arrival as well as the opportunity for all attendees to not only watch the golf but also take part in a golf clinic with European Tour coach Gary Nicol and enjoy live music from former Westlife star Brian McFadden and upcoming Scottish artist Hugh Kelly.

In addition to Ladies Day, Solheim Cup Sunday is also new to the 2019 tournament where fans are encouraged to get behind the tournament by wearing Team Europe or Team USA colours to pledge their support of their favourite team in the biennial contest.

The best-dressed fan will receive a special Solheim Cup pin flag signed by all the European Team and there will be on the spot prizes for those that have made the effort.
