Doc Redman shot a 4-under 67 on Saturday to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Bermuda Championship.

The strong winds that have been buffetting Port Royal switched directions nearly 180 degrees and lessened a little from gusts of 30mph on Friday to 25 mph leading to lower scores.

“I feel like with the wind switching, it was a little easier,” said Redman. “And it was still really windy. But yesterday was incredible. We couldn't have been far away from stopping play yesterday. That made it a little easier. And the greens roll great, so if you have looks at it you can make birdies.”

Redman leads a group of ten players within four shots who have never won on the PGA Tour, a win on Sunday would also guarantee an invitation to next year's Masters.

The wind also complicated play for Ryan Armour who was having trouble with his swing but managed to break par and stay in contention with his short game, closing with a 70.

“I'm going to have to go figure out what was going on. Toward the end there, I started hitting the center of the face a little more. As you know, when the winds are this high, you've got to hit in the center or else it's going to get blown all over.”

Also tied in second place is Kramer Hickok, who coped with the wind by using a compass on the greens.

“I'm asking Billy (his caddie) to get the compass out and see what the wind's doing on this putt, because you have to factor that in so much, just because the wind's blowing so hard. Literally you've got a putt that's half a cup out left, and the wind's off the right, it will blow it left. It's different, it's fun, and you've got to embrace it.”

Fred Funk, who at 64 is the oldest player in the field, is thirteen shots behind after closing with a 75.
