Tiburón Golf Club, Naples, Florida
$3,000,000
Round 1, Round 3, Round 4

World number 1 Jin Young Ko shot a 5-under 67 on Friday in cold and windy conditions to take the lead of the CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburón Golf Club.

She is playing in her fourth event after spending most of the year in South Korea.

"Before when I play in KLPGA it was really cold, so I hate cold weather to play golf, but right now I love it."

Ko, who tied for second place in last week's U.S. Women's Open, fired five birdies in a bogey-free round.

"I want bogey-free round next two days," said Ko. "I'm looking forward to the weekend."

One stroke behind Ko at 8-under are defending champion and World number 2 Sei Young Kim and Lexi Thompson, the 2018 winner and leader after the first round.

"Feel very solid in the morning because we got the strong wind," said Kim. "My shot really solid. I'm very looking forward this weekend. Really exciting to chase the world ranking No. 1."

Thompson followed up her opening 65 with a 71 in a round that comprised three birdies and two bogeys.

"It was different conditions today of course with the cooler weather in the morning," said Thompson. "I would say overall it was a lot breezier throughout the day. Wasn't as good as yesterday of course, but overall happy and going to take the positives into the next two days."

Lydia Ko shot the low round of the day with a bogey-free 65 to tie for eleventh place at 5-under.

“I was a lot more on the fairways and I was off to a much better start,” said Ko. “Yesterday I was 4-over through seven. At that point you are just trying to get birdies to have a comeback.

“I was able to do that somewhat. But I got off to a good start (today). You know, having lots of birdie opportunities was really key. Even though it was getting a little breezy at the start of the day, I set up a lot of good chances for birdies, so that makes it a lot less stressful. Whereas if you're trying to make up-and-downs, it wears you out pretty quick.”
