Viktor Hovland has won his second PGA Tour title at the Mayakoba Golf Classic with a 12-foot birdie putt on the 18th for a 65 to finish at 20-under, beating Aaron wise by one shot at El Camaleon Golf Club.

He is the first playersince the inaugural edition in to win with a birdie putt on the final hole. Hovland also won his first title at the Puerto Rico Open in February by sinking a 30-foot birdie putt on the final hole.

“I was shaking there at the end. I thought I lost it after second shot on 16. I made an awesome par there. I knew I had to make birdie on 18.”

Hovland built up a two-shot lead going into the back nine after firing four birdies early in his round but lost some ground after a bogey at the 12th. He birdied the next two holes but Wise joined him in the lead and it came down to the final putt.

The 23-year-old is the fifth European player since 1945 to earn multiple Tour titles before turning 24, following Seve Ballesteros, Sergio Garcia, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

Wise closed with a 63 in a round that comprised six birdies and an eagle at the par-5 7th but missed birdie putts from 12-feet on the final two holes.

“I played 17 aggressive off the tee. On 18, I hit two great shots,” said Wise. “I hit every shot as good as I could hit it. I just couldn't get them to drop.”

Adam Long and Tom Hoge tied for third at 17-under. Hoge came within one shot of the lead after sinking a 20-foot birdie putt on the 15th but three-putted and closed with a 69.

The second and third round leader Emiliano Grillo closed with a 72 to finish five shots behind the leader at 15-under and tied for eighth.
