Round 4 - Matthew Fitzpatrick wins by three

June 6 2016

Matthew Fitzpatrick eased his way to a three-shot victory on Sunday at the Nordea Masters for his second European Tour title.

The Englishman shot a 1-under 71 in the final round at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club, ahead of second-placed Lasse Jensen (68), who secured his spot at the British Open.

The 21-year-old Fitzpatrick, who finished on 16-under 272, led by five shots overnight.

He is the youngest winner of the tournament.

Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium, who eagled the ninth, was third on 12 under.

''Today was the round where I obviously was under the most pressure,'' Fitzpatrick said. ''I was so zoned into my own game I didn't really know what was going on around me half the time.''

Defending champion Alex Noren, who was aiming for his third title at Bro Hoff, had a disappointing day. Tied for second overnight, the Swede shot a 4-over 78 to finish tied for 12th.

Round 3 - Matthew Fitzpatrick extends lead to five

June 5 2016

Matthew Fitzpatrick takes a five-stroke lead into the final round of the Nordea Masters, ahead of defending champion Alex Noren of Sweden and Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts.

The Englishman, who started with an overnight three-shot advantage, had five birdies in his round of 68 at Bro Hof Slott club for an overall 15-under 201.

The 2011 tournament winner Noren (67) had three birdies in his first seven holes, while Colsaerts (70) turned in an opening 33.

Round 2 - Matthew Fitzpatrick moves three clear

June 4, 2016

Matthew Fitzpatrick made the turn in 32 strokes and eventually opened a three-shot lead after two rounds of the Nordea Masters on Friday.

Fitzpatrick's bogey-free 7-under 65 put him at 11 under overall at Bro Hof Slott club and in sight of a second European Tour win, to go with his British Masters victory last November.

In his only top-10 finish this season, he closed the U.S. Masters with a 67 to tie for seventh.

In a five-way tie for second were Fitzpatrick's English countrymen Ross Fisher (68) and Andrew Johnston (69), Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium (66), local hope Alexander Bjork (68), and Scott Henry of Scotland (69).

Lee Westwood was six shots behind Fitzpatrick after a 71, and Henrik Stenson, the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 6, was two shots inside the even-par cut at 2 under thanks to a 70.

Round 1 - Six top crowded leaderboard

June 3, 2016

Six players share the lead after the opening day of the Nordea Masters on Thursday.

Andrew Johnston, Clement Berardo, Florian Fritsch, Marc Warren, Scott Henry and Sebastien Gros all shot 5-under 67 on the Bro Hof Slott course outside Stockholm.

Lee Westwood, a three-time winner of the tournament, was one shot behind after six birdies and two bogies in his opening round.

''I'm starting to hit the ball really well and seeing the flight on the shots that I like and on the greens I rolled the ball really well,'' Westwood told the European PGA tour website.

World No. 6 Henrik Stenson was five strokes behind the leaders, finishing the day on par.
