Remesy ready for French return

Jean-François Remesy will aim to become the first home winner of the Paris Legends Championship at Racing Club de France La Boulie, from October 11-13.Remesy lifted the Open de France trophy in 2004 and 2005 and clinched his first Staysure Tour title at the Swiss Seniors Open earlier this year. Following his victory and a further three top ten results, the Frenchman will lead the charge on home soil at Golf de La Boulie.
Paul Broadhurst championed at Le Golf National 12 months ago, while Magnus P Atelvi claimed his first title on the over-50’s circuit in 2016. However, a change of venue to Golf de La Boulie following Le Golf National’s hosting of The Ryder Cup, will give the players a different test.
Golf de La Boulie was home to the 1986 Open de France where a young Remesy missed the cut as Seve Ballesteros rose to the top for one of his six European Tour wins that year. Now older and wiser, the Frenchman is looking forward to returning and playing in-front of a home crowd.
“I always like playing in France. There is a little bit more motivation, like the Open de France, which I remember well,” he said. “You always have a boost to play in your home county.
“It’s great to come back and play in France and I’m feeling good this week. Playing at home will be one of many good things that I’ll take away from this year.
“I haven’t played the course for 30 years. I played it many times as an amateur and a professional on the French tour, so I know it pretty well. But 30 years ago was a long time ago and the course wasn’t the same as it is now. I remember quite a lot of things from then, but I don’t know if that is going to be a bonus or not.”
Remesy is one of five Frenchman set to tee it up at Golf de La Boulie, as well as Spaniard Santiago Luna, who is looking to become the first player on the over-50’s circuit to win back-to-back events this year.
Markus Brier, playing his debut Staysure Tour season, has recorded a share of second and a tie for third in his last two results as he aims for a debut Staysure Tour win. While Philip Golding is hoping to add the Paris Legends Championship to his list of accolades following his second and third place finishes at the event in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
