October 08-11
TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada
$7,000,000
Round 2, Round 3, Round 4

Bryson DeChambeau shot a 9-under 62 in the opening round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open to take a one shot lead, matching his career low score.

"I'm very pleased with how I played today. Didn't hit it my best, but I put it in the right spots a lot of the times today."

He two-putted all three par-5s and two par-4s and only missed two greens in regulation.

"It was a great day to play well. There's no wind out here for the most part and you feel like you can bomb it everywhere and hit wedges close. And I was lucky enough to make a lot of putts to start off my day."

DeChambeau will take a break before the Masters and miss out on tournaments in Las Vegas and California to work on a 48-inch driver in preparation for Augusta National.

Former winner and twice runner-up Patrick Cantlay, who hasn't had a top-10 finish in six starts, shot a 63.

"I like this course. It sets up for a right-to-left shot on a lot of holes, which is my preferred shot. So I'm just playing from the fairway a lot and it feels like there is lots of green lights, lots of opportunities to hit it as close as I can. I like the golf course and I've played well here."

Also in second place with a 63 are Harold Varner III, Nate Lashley, Scott Harrington and Austin Cook.

Last week's winner in Mississippi Sergio Garcia opened with a 66 and Open champion Francesco Molinari shot 70 in his first start since the pandemic halted play in March.
