October 08-11
TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada
$7,000,000
Round 1, Round 2, Round 3

Martin Laird bounced back from a final hole bogey with a long putt on the second extra hole to beat Matthew Wolff and Austin Cook in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin.

He made his first win on Tour in this event in 2009 and it was his fourth PGA Tour win,his first in over seven years.

"It's been a while. I've been working hard, and it's been seven years since my last win. Probably feel like now my game is as good as it has been. I've been playing really good the last few weeks but just hadn't seen the results. But I love it here."

โ€œI'm unbelievably excited to have pulled that off todayโ€ฆ you have some doubts at times whether you're going to get another one. I just played so well all week this week tee to green; was probably the best I ever played. Just felt in control really all week. To see that putt go in on that hole, it was pretty special.โ€

Laird was playing on a sponsor's exemption as he returns from knee surgery after he tore his meniscus in June and has only made four starts since the Tour returned from the COVID-19 break. With this win Laird earns a Tour exemption through the 2022-23 season and a place in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Players, Masters and next year's PGA Championship.

"I haven't had time to think about it. As you can tell, I'm emotional," said Laird. "I can't wait to get back home and see my kids and my wife and celebrate with them."

The only other two players with multiple wins at TPC Summerlin are Jim Furyk in 1995, 1998 and 1999 and Kevin Na in 2011 and 2019.

Wolff and Cook were tied for third three shots behind Laird overnight and both shot 5-under 66 to join him in the playoff. It was Cook's best finish since his breakthrough win at the RSM Classic in 2017 and Wolff's third runner-up finish in his last 10 starts, back-to-back with his U.S. Open finish.

โ€œGame is at an all-time high. I have a lot of confidence carrying into the next two weeks and then the Masters, so looking forward to what's next,โ€ said Wolff.

โ€œMy game has progressed amazingly and at pace that if you would've told me I would've been pretty amazed by it. I'm just looking to maybe get a win soonโ€ฆ I'm feeling like I can go out there and win any week now. Maybe a win is due sometime soon. But if I just keep on doing this, I'm sure it'll come.โ€

Patrick Cantlay was tied with Laird for the lead heading into the final round and had a chance to join Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson as the only players to finish first or second at the same Tour event four years in a row since 1960. He closed with a 73 and finished T8 with Bryson DeChambeau, Si Woo Kim, Matthew NeSmith and Justin Suh.

DeChambeau will now take a break before the Masters next month.
