November 05-08
Memorial Park Golf Course, Houston, Texas
$7,000,000
Round 1, Round 2, Round 4

Sam Burns overcame two successive bogeys on the second and third holes with an eagle at the eighth and three birdies in his final six holes to hold on to the lead in Houston with a 68 and a 9-under, 201 total.

Memorial Park, returning to the PGA Tour after more than fifty year, is proving a real challenge. The scoring average this week is more than a stroke over par and there have been 32 triple-bogeys or worse so far, more than there were for the entire week at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot earlier this year.

โ€œIt's not a matter of if. It's a matter of when this golf course will hit you,โ€ said Burns.

One shot behind Burns are Jason Day and Carlos Ortiz who both shot 67s on Saturday.

A further two shots back is Dustin Johnson, playing for the first time since testing positive for Covid-19 and missing two starts. He chose to self-isolate in his hotel room for eleven days and was unable to practice.

โ€œThe most movement I made was to the shower.โ€

Johnson didn't get back to practice until a week before the Houston Open and was still feeling the effects of the long break.

He shot 2-over 72, including five bogeys in his first nine holes, in his opening round but followed it with a 66 on Friday then again on Saturday.

โ€œObviously after the first nine holes I've played pretty solid and I like the way I'm playing. I'm swinging well. I'm seeing a lot of similarities to how I was playing back when I was playing really well a couple months ago. The game's feeling really good going into next week and obviously we've still got another day tomorrow and I feel like I'm in a good position with a chance to win.โ€
