{"id":1248649,"date":"2023-12-17T22:26:29","date_gmt":"2023-12-17T22:26:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/golftoday.co.uk\/tiger-woods-hails-special-weekend-playing-with-son-charlie-at-pnc-championship\/"},"modified":"2023-12-18T08:50:19","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T08:50:19","slug":"tiger-woods-hails-special-weekend-playing-with-son-charlie-at-pnc-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/golftoday.co.uk\/tiger-woods-hails-special-weekend-playing-with-son-charlie-at-pnc-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiger Woods hails \u2018special\u2019 weekend playing with son Charlie at PNC Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tiger Woods described his weekend as \u201cso special\u201d after finishing tied for fifth alongside son Charlie at the PNC Championship.<\/p>\n<p>The 15-time major winner and his 14-year-old son combined for a round of 61 in Orlando on Sunday to finish on 19 under par, six shots behind the winners.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Tiger and Charlie Woods shoot 11-under 61 | Round 2 | PNC Championship | 2023\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/abiOQh4o_78?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Woods, who also had daughter Sam caddying for him, was somewhat overshadowed as Charlie provided their round\u2019s highlight with a chip-in on the ninth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo have both my kids out there the last two days has been so special,\u201d said Woods, who recently returned to competitive action after ankle surgery<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GolfTodayUK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that a lot of things are aching a lot more than my ankle, which is the way it goes<a href=\"https:\/\/golftoday.co.uk\/afrasia-bank-mauritius-open-2023-r4-louis-oosthuizen-wins-second-consecutive-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been nice to knock off a lot of the rust and some of the doubt that I\u2019ve had because quite frankly I haven\u2019t hit a shot that counted in a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Major Champion Bernhard Langer and his 23-year-old son Jason carded a final round 59 to overcome a three-shot deficit to win.<\/p>\n<p>This was Bernhard\u2019s fifth victory, after previously winning with his eldest son Stefan in 2005 and 2006, and Jason in 2014 and 2019. He has also competed with both of his daughters, Jackie and Christina.<\/p>\n<p>They matched Raymond Floyd (1995, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001) for the most wins in the 26-year history of the PNC Championship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery special. It&#8217;s always special whether you win or not, just being here is like the Olympics. They only take 20 teams and there&#8217;s probably 25 on the waiting list that would love to be here. It&#8217;s always a wonderful thing to get an invitation to come and play here, and as you all know, I&#8217;ve got four kids, played with all four of them, and we have a lot of wonderful memories.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Also, from now on, I&#8217;m on vacation. So, this is a bonus here. When this tournament is over, we&#8217;re heading tomorrow to Europe to Germany and spend time over there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a ton of fun,&#8221; said Jason.\u00a0 &#8220;I said it earlier, but I don&#8217;t get to play as much golf anymore, and I don&#8217;t get to see my parents and my family quite as much. To be able to play golf as a family and in a beautiful spot and great competition and play a really good golf course, it&#8217;s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1248662\"
