I\u2019m just reacting to things in the moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSure, there are times when I wish I didn\u2019t say certain words and some things come out that you wish you could take back. But at the end of the day it\u2019s just a reaction. I guess I can\u2019t apologise for being myself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI played some pretty good golf today, missed pretty much every putt I looked at and don\u2019t think I could have scored much worse to be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked about the frustration of missing his par putt on the last, Hatton added: \u201cYou\u2019d rather hit it out to 20 or 30 feet and two putt. You hit an unreal bunker shot and then miss from three-and-a-half feet, it\u2019s annoying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Round 1 Highlights | 2024 Betfred British Masters\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lApLY1lCeco?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s Thriston Lawrence, who finished fourth in the Open at Royal Troon last month, and Spain\u2019s Jorge Campillo were a shot off the lead after matching rounds of 68, with England\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/golftoday.co.uk\/jordan-smith-cards-encouraging-69-at-british-masters-in-spite-of-poor-warm-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jordan Smith<\/a>, Laurie Canter and Andrew Wilson part of a large group on three under.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very happy, especially because it\u2019s probably one of the worst warm-ups I\u2019ve ever had so I was quite surprised when I got out there,\u201d Smith told the PA news agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hit it great Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and then got on to the range this morning and couldn\u2019t hit my hat. I guess it\u2019s a warm-up for a reason and I went out there and played some really good stuff to be fair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe course is in really good condition, probably the best I\u2019ve seen it and probably the toughest I\u2019ve seen it for a long time. The rough\u2019s up in a few places and the firm conditions makes it tricky if you\u2019re slightly out of position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis sort of course and the way it\u2019s set up definitely suits me.
