The Englishman has one previous win on the DP World Tour at the 2023 D+D Real Czech Masters.<\/p>\n<p>Spain&#8217;s Alejandro del Rey and Finland&#8217;s Sami V\u00e4lim\u00e4ki are tied in second place at 4-under.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Rory McIlroy | Round 1 Highlights | 2024 Amgen Irish Open\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q1LiUKq8V9E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Home favourite and World number 3 Rory McIlroy made three bogeys and signed for a 68 and a share of fourth place at 3-under alongside England&#8217;s Marcus Armitage, Italy&#8217;s Filippo Cello who stayed bogey-free and South Africa&#8217;s Thriston Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny time you can shoot three under around this place you have to be happy,\u201d said McIlroy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conditions were pretty tough early on and then the wind seemed to settle a little bit those last few holes and it was nice to take advantage of that and play them the way I did.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiving those shots away on 14 and 15, to get more than both of them back on the last three holes was a great way to finish and gives me plenty of momentum going into Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s nice to get off to a good start (in Northern Ireland) for a change.
