{"id":1253882,"date":"2024-09-21T16:56:54","date_gmt":"2024-09-21T16:56:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/golftoday.co.uk\/?p=1253882"},"modified":"2024-09-21T16:56:54","modified_gmt":"2024-09-21T16:56:54","slug":"bmw-pga-championship-2024-r3-matteo-manassero-takes-3-shot-lead-into-final-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/golftoday.co.uk\/bmw-pga-championship-2024-r3-matteo-manassero-takes-3-shot-lead-into-final-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Matteo Manassero takes 3-shot lead into final day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Matteo Manassero stormed into the BMW PGA Championship lead with a flawless 63 featuring an eagle at the par-5 4th and three consecutive birdies from the 16th.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian reached an 18-under 198 total, the lowest 54-hole score to par in the event&#8217;s history, to lead by three shots.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/golftoday.co.uk\/matteo-manasseros-masterful-return-to-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>After losing his Tour card for five years<\/strong><\/a> Manassero stepped away from the game before returning via the Challenge Tour and won his fourth title at the Jonsson Workwear Open in March.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Matteo Manassero | Round 3 Highlights | 2024 BMW PGA Championship\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UWIO1Y-L-9Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was one of the best rounds I&#8217;ve ever played considering the conditions, especially on the front nine,&#8221; said Manassero.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was raining, it was soft but it was playing long. There wasn&#8217;t too many birdies out there but I made the most of them and it was just a fantastic round.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The feeling is great playing with guys like Rory and Billy and the atmosphere. Wentworth puts up such a fantastic show around us and of course you feed off that, you feed off playing with great players so it was one of those really nice Saturdays.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Of course I will see the leaderboard and I know what I&#8217;m going to face tomorrow and it is a great position to be in.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not going to be an easy task tomorrow, golf today was great with me and we will see about tomorrow.
