Fitzpatrick joins PGA TOUR as Special Temporary Member

The PGA TOUR announced today that Matthew Fitzpatrick of England has accepted Special Temporary Membership.
Webb Simpson has won the Players Championship by four shots. He started the day with a historically insurmountable advantage of seven shots and while his final round of 73 ended with a double bogey at the final hole it made no difference to the result. Simpson finished at 18-under 270, Charl Schwartzel, Jimmy Walker and Zander Schauffele came in second at 14-under and Jason Day tied for fifth place with Jason Dufner.

Simpson moves up 21 places to 20 this week, Schwartzel moves to 43 from 62, Walker up to 56 from 83, Schauffele moves up six places to 23, Day stays at number 7 and Dufner moves up six places to 51.Joakim Lagergren has won his maiden title in a playoff at the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open.

Lagergren started the day two shots behind overnight leader Mike Lorenzo-Vera but made four birdies in his first nine to take the lead then came home in 36 to close with a 68 for a 16-under, 268. Lorenzo-Vera's 70 was enough to force a playoff but he had to settle for a second consecutive second-place finish following last week's GolfSixes.

Lagergren is the second first-time Swedish winner in three weeks after Alexander Björk's win at the Volvo China Open.

Lucas Herbert and Andy Sullivan tied for third place at 15-under and Lucas Bjerregaard came in fifth at 14-under.

Lagergren moves up to 133 from 248, Lorenzo-Vera up to 114 from 157, Herbert moves up fourty places to 143, Sullivan up to 128 from 141 and Bjerregaard up 29 places to 180.
