(opens in a new tab)\">.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The South Korean won a dramatic three-way play-off last September, sealing victory at the first play-off hole. Lee eagled her 72<sup>nd<\/sup> hole on the Sunday to draw level with Nelly Korda and Brooke Henderson, remarkably having not held the lead at any point during the tournament.\u00a0 Now a four-time LPGA winner, Lee calmly holed a five-foot putt for birdie to snatch victory from Korda and Henderson &#8211; both of whom had held the lead over the course of the final day.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div align=\"center\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Poppie&#39;s Pond from above &#x1f60d;&#x1f681;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ANAinspiration?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ANAinspiration<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/InspirationStartsHere?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#InspirationStartsHere<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ixUymX0Odr\">pic.twitter.com\/ixUymX0Odr<\/a><\/p>&mdash; ANA Inspiration (@ANAinspiration) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ANAinspiration\/status\/1363586167174742018?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 21, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><br>As with last year\u2019s tournament, this special 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary edition will be going ahead without spectators due to Covid-19 related restrictions following close collaboration with partners ANA, the LPGA, the City of Rancho Mirage, Mission Hills Country Club and in consultation with the Riverside County Health Department, following the State of California Public Health Department guidelines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With no onsite hospitality possible this year, tournament organisers have taken this unique opportunity, coinciding with 50<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary celebrations, to play the famous 18<sup>th<\/sup> island green surrounded by the famous Poppie\u2019s Pond in its purest state. As far as the records show, the world\u2019s best golfers will be approaching the 18<sup>th<\/sup> green just as the competitors would have encountered it in its inaugural edition in 1972, clear of any hospitality units or branding.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Lee is looking forward to revisiting the scene of her victory just six\nmonth ago, said; \u201cI can\u2019t wait to return to Rancho Mirage as the defending\nchampion. Usually you have to wait 12 months to get to defend a title so it\u2019s\npretty unusual we will be back there so soon. For me personally, I think it\nwill be wonderful to be back there as soon as possible and have the chance to\nrelive all the happy memories and feelings of winning there last year. I am\nvery sad that all the amazing fans still won\u2019t be able to return this year, but\nit is a very understandable and sensible decision to make when we are in a\nglobal pandemic. We are all very grateful to ANA, the LPGA, IMG, Mission Hills\nand Rancho Mirage and all the partners for working so hard for us to make it\npossible for us to play the year\u2019s first Major as scheduled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Germany\u2019s Aline Krauter, a Junior at Stanford University, has also\nseized the chance to play in the season-opening Major, commenting, \u201cIt is such\na fantastic opportunity for me to gain experience playing amongst the world\u2019s\nbest in the season\u2019s first major. I could not think of a more historic venue to\nplay my first major championship at.
