Collin Morikawa easily kept control of his lead ahead of the last day of the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii while Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick pushed his way to a share of second.

American Morikawa finished the day on eight-under 65 for a total of 24-under 195, keeping ahead of the pack and is the only player in the field bogey-free through 54 holes.

"It's been pretty simple today. Kind of over the past three days, is where I've been looking is kind of where the ball's been going. I kind of know what is doing right and when I hit a bad shot, kind of what the mistake was. That's the biggest thing. That's what I was kind of hindering on is brining in a couple more coaches, just knowing a little bit more about what's going on.

"Sometimes I think you do, and you do. You know enough. But it really factors in now if I can go back to any shot today and just really go through like, was the mental process right, was the routine good, what was off a little bit here or there and go from there.

His six-shot lead equals the largest 54-hole lead of the season (Russell Henley/World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba) and matches the largest 54-hole lead since the Sentry Tournament of Champions moved to Kapalua in 1999 (Geoff Ogilvy/2009).

His 195 sets his low 54-hole score on Tour, it was previously 198, achieved three times most recently at the 2021 Sony Open in Hawaii).

Fitzpatrick shot his way up from sixth place to share the second spot, on a total of 18-under 201, with Masters champion Scottie Scheffler and American JJ Spaun.

Morikawa finished last year winless but is showing his determination to end the losing streak early in 2023 by earning a six shot lead before the final day of the tournament.

He birdied four of the last five holes on Saturday, ending on a 15-foot birdie putt.
