It is estimated that around a third of the world’s golfers are classed as having swing speeds that are moderate or lower so it makes a lot of commercial sense to really push the boat out to create a tailored driver that really helps make golf that little bit easier.

The TSR1 does that and more with its uber lightweight design – it is a huge 40 grammes lighter than the TSR2 – while MMT’s SpeedMesh shafts, which play at under 40 grammes in all flexes, really helps, not least because it still offers impressive stability and that translates to maximising energy transfer at impact.

And making that impact is a 460cc head – the maximum-allowed capacity – so those who need the most help are definitely getting it with the TSR1, which goes on sale on February 23rd.

“The TSR1 line represents a continued commitment to deliver speed to every style of player,” said Stephanie Luttrell, Titleist Director of Metalwood Development.

“With the TSR1 driver, we found more speed and launch for the player through a lightweight design, better aerodynamics and our deepest CG ever in a Titleist driver.”

The elimination of excess weight, combined with improved aerodynamics and a similar “boat tail” shape to the TSR2, helps golfers swing TSR1 faster through the air.

Multi-Plateau Variable Face Thickness technology, found in other TSR driver models, assists in speed retention from off-centre hits, while a deep Centre of Gravity, almost perfectly centred to the face, promotes higher launch and exceptional ball speed.
