The Former World Number One last teed it up at Olgiata Golf Course in 2002 and 17 years later, the Olympic Champion returns to Italy in search of a third Rolex Series title to add to his already impressive resume, following back-to-back wins in 2017 and 2018 at the Turkish Airlines Open.

The World Number Four joins his Ryder Cup team mates, Open Champion Francesco Molinari and defending champion Thorbjørn Olesen, in the field with tickets to see the trio in action on sale here.

All three played significant roles in Thomas Bjørn’s European Team which memorably won The 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National in France, with Rose claiming two points in his fourth appearance for Team Europe at golf’s greatest team contest.

“I’m excited to come back to Italy, and to Rome in particular, which is such a stunning city and a highlight for us players,” said the 2013 U.S. Open Champion.

“The history and tradition behind the Italian Open makes this tournament very special and with The 2022 Ryder Cup coming to Rome, it is going to be an amazing week in one of the world’s most iconic cities.”

The 38-year-old has enjoyed a solid start to the 2019 season, winning his tenth PGA Tour title at the Farmers Insurance Open before finishing tied third at the U.S. Open Championship.

“It’s always great to come back to Europe and I’m excited to play Olgiata again almost 17 years on at such a different point in my career. I know the Italian fans are great, they are sports mad in their country, and following Francesco’s Major success and The 2022 Ryder Cup on the horizon, it’s going to be an awesome experience in Rome.”

The Italian Open is shaping up to be the perfect day out for all the family in Rome - offering fantastic food and drink outlets in the championship village, as well as retail experiences and entertainment for all ages.
