The Mazzanoble Story
I didn’t invent JumboMax grips, and at first and didn’t even believe in them. But when I bet on something, I go all in—and more often than not, I win.
Golf has been in my blood since childhood, and after years in business, I realized I needed to get back to the game I loved. That’s when I crossed paths with the creator of JumboMax, and despite my skepticism, a few swings changed everything.
In 2010, Bryson DeChambeau’s coach, Mike Schy, tested the grips, put them on Bryson’s clubs, and soon after, Bryson shot two 59s. The rest is history, and under my leadership, JumboMax has gone from niche to necessity—trusted by major champions, long-drive bombers, and weekend warriors alike.
Golf has always been in my blood. I grew up playing with my dad and brothers, spent nights grinding in my backyard net, and even worked as a PGA Pro in my early 20s. But I also had a mind for business and was always drawn to ideas that challenged the norm. JumboMax does exactly that—and lets me work in the game I love.
We’re not here to do what every other grip company does. We’re here to help golfers play their best, and we’re just getting started.

You wake up in the morning — what’s the driving passion?
Knowing that JumboMax has the opportunity to change golf forever by making the game more enjoyable and accessible for every golfer. Our grips help players hit it longer, straighter, and more comfortably, and that drives everything we do.
What was the genesis for JumboMax?
Golf is played with a skinny handle—but why? Every tool in your toolbox has a bigger handle for better control and comfort. Most sports like tennis and baseball, too. So we asked the simple but game-changing question: “Why are we playing golf with skinny handles?”
How do your efforts go beyond what is being done by your competition?
Before JumboMax, golfers had one or two grip size options—maybe three—and that was it. JumboMax offers 35 variations of sizes, weights, shapes, and textures, allowing golfers to get custom fit for their grips just like they do for shafts and heads.
It’s crazy that grips—the only part of the club you actually touch—were never part of the fitting conversation. We’re changing that forever.
In approximate percentage terms, what are sales via brick-and-mortar retail outlets, green grass shops, and online?
About 55% of our sales are direct-to-consumer through our website.
But we also work closely with green grass shops, distributors, and big-box retailers to ensure golfers can access JumboMax grips wherever they are.
Who is your customer?
Every golfer, period.
Our grips are used by PGA Tour winners, long-drive champions, elite juniors, and collegiate players, but the majority of our customers are regular golfers—players who want to hit longer, straighter shots while reducing hand strain and discomfort.
Most companies tout the importance of customer service. Define the term and the approach followed at JumboMax.
We love talking to golfers—because we’re golfers.
Whether it’s on the phone, through email, or social media, we want to make it easy for golfers to get the right answers quickly. We also use the latest customer service technology to ensure golfers get thoughtful responses—even after hours and on weekends.
How do you reach out to customers for feedback, and has it influenced product development?
Listening to golfers has shaped everything we do.
When we started over a decade ago, we were excited to sell a few sets of grips at a time. Those early demo days showed us how much feedback mattered, and we’ve never stopped listening.
Today, we actively engage with our customers through social media and direct interactions, using that input to refine and develop new products.
What percentage of golfers do not have properly fitted grips, and why?
More than 99% of golfers have never been properly fit for grips. It’s not their fault—there’s never been a company capable of doing it.
Until now.
How can golfers get properly fitted for grips, and how often should grips be changed?
We’ve built an iOS grip fitting app that analyzes 200+ data points—including hand size, grip pressure, and ball flight—to find the perfect fit. A web version is available for non-iOS users, and in 2025, we’re launching an in-person fitting system to make grip selection even easier.
Grip wear depends on how often and where you play. We recommend re-gripping at least once a year or twice a year if you play 3+ times per week. Heat, humidity, and friction speed up wear, so if your grips feel slick, shiny, or firm, it’s time for a fresh set—because worn-out grips are just as bad as worn-out grooves.
What are the biggest challenges facing JumboMax, and how are you addressing them?
Honestly? Keeping up with demand.
The golf industry is in the infancy of grip fitting, and given how quickly and easily it can help golfers play better; we’re pushing as hard as we can to lead the way. Our goal is to stay ahead of the curve by continuing to innovate, educate, and expand access to proper grip fitting.
The future of grip fitting starts now.
