Round 4- Wang Jeung-hun wins again

May 15, 2016

South Korean Wang Jeung-hun claimed his second European Tour title in as many weeks by overhauling overnight leader Siddikur Rahman to win the Mauritius Open by one shot on Sunday.

The 20-year-old took the Trophee Hassan II title last week in Morocco, and could now move into the top 70 in the world rankings having been 133rd a fortnight ago.

He carded an even-par final round of 72 at the Four Seasons Golf Club, with a birdie at the 18th sealing a thrilling victory on a six-under-par total of 282.

Wang is the first man to win back-to-back European Tour events since Rory McIlroy at the Bridgestone Invitational and USPGA Championship in 2014.

He is also the third-youngest player to win his first two tournaments on the tour in the same season, with only Spaniards Sergio Garcia and Jose Maria Olazabal managing the feat at a younger age.

"I hope I can win three in a row, but next week is a really big tournament and it's my first time in Ireland, so I'm not sure," Wang told www.europeantour.com, referring to next week's Irish Open at the K Club.

"I probably had luck on my side today. I wasn't even thinking about winning this week until the 16th. I missed a lot of putts so I thought I didn't have any chance to win."

Wang started the day one stroke behind playing partner Rahman of Bangladesh, and slipped further adrift with a bogey at the opening hole.

Rahman briefly pulled four clear, and took a three-shot advantage into the final three holes.

But the 31-year-old buckled under the pressure of trying to win his first title on one of the two major tours, double bogeying the 16th and taking a four on the par-three penultimate hole.

The duo were locked at five under going up the par-five last and Wang superbly got up and down from the greenside bunker for birdie, before Rahman saw his chip to force a play-off hit the pin.

Round 3- Siddikur Rahman takes over lead

May 15, 2016

Siddikur Rahman shot 69 to lead the Mauritius Open after the third round on Saturday as overnight leader Andrew Dodt dropped seven shots on the back nine.

Rahman was 7 under overall for a one-shot lead over Wang Jeung-hun at the Four Seasons Golf Club.

Dodt appeared set to maintain the lead he held through the first two rounds of the co-sanctioned European Tour-Asian Tour tournament only for a terrible run to drop him four shots off Rahman's pace. Dodt bogeyed No. 10, then went double bogey, bogey, double bogey, bogey through Nos. 13-16 to end with a 5-over 77. He is 3 under and tied with Nicolas Colsaerts for third.

Rahman carded four birdies and a bogey, while Wang is seeking back-to-back titles after winning in Morocco last weekend.

Round 2- Andrew Dodt stretches lead to three

May 14, 2016

Andrew Dodt opened a three-shot lead at the Mauritius Open after putting together a solid 2-under 70 in the second round on Friday.

The Australian extended his overnight advantage at Four Seasons Golf Club with five birdies to go 8 under overall. He had an adventurous back nine, with four of those birdies, a bogey, and a double-bogey seven on his way back in.

But in blustery sea winds on the Indian Ocean island's east coast, that round proved to be one of the best.

South Korea's Wang Jeung-hun, who won his maiden European Tour title last week in Morocco, is second on 5 under after also carding a 70. Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts made his move with a superb 65 to climb into a tie for third at 4 under.

Round 1 - Andrew Dodt leads with opening 66

May 13, 2016

Andrew Dodt began with back-to-back birdies and posted a 6-under 66 Thursday for the lead in the first round of the Mauritius Open.

Dodt had six birdies and an eagle at the Ernie Els-designed Four Seasons Golf Club on the east coast of the Indian Ocean island. He has an early 2-shot advantage over Rashid Khan and Siddikur Rahman.

Defending champion George Coetzee opened with a 71, tied for ninth.

Dodt's success came on a day of tough conditions, with the wind swirling through the Four Seasons course. Only 21 players managed to shoot under par.

Dodt chipped in for birdie on his opening hole and scrambled again on his second for another birdie after finding a fairway bunker.
